Did you know James Bond went undercover in Star Wars: The Force Awakens?
Well, not James Bond. But an actor who's played him four times—in Quantum of Solace, Casino Royale, Skyfall and Spectre—did indeed go undercover. A source confirms to E! News that Daniel Craig made a secret cameo as a Stormtrooper in the latest installment in the Star Wars franchise. Simon Pegg let it slip in May, and when Craig was asked about his involvement in July, the British star flat out lied to Entertainment Weekly. "Why would I ever bother doing something like that?" the 47-year-old actor asked. "F--king hell! Pffft. Play an extra in another movie." In hindsight, it's understandable why Craig would want to keep his role under wraps. After all, Star Wars: The Force Awakens was shrouded in secrecy until its release.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Craig "did it for s--ts and grins." Spectre and Star Wars: the Force Awakens filmed concurrently at Pinewood Studios in London, making the cameo easy. (No Stormtroopers appear in Spectre...that we know of.)
So, just what did Craig say and do in the movie?

A First Order Stormtrooper (Craig) guards Rey (Daisy Ridley) after Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) captures her for questioning. The shackled scavenger tries to embrace her latent Force powers, telling him, "You will remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open." Craig's character replies, "I'll tighten those restraints, scavenger scum." With a little focus, Rey repeats herself. The Stormtrooper gives in, telling her, "I'll remove these restraints and leave this cell with the door open." Before Rey makes her escape, she also instructs him to leave his weapon behind.
To find out what happens next, well, you'll just have to buy a ticket.
Oh, and FYI, Craig's face is never shown onscreen.
The scene is a nod to those involving Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) in 1977's Star Wars and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in 1983's Star Wars: Return of the Jedi.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens earned a record $57 million Thursday night, and it's expected to debut at No. 1 and open in the $180 million-$220 million range in its debut weekend. It's one of the most talked about movies on social media, too, receiving nearly 4 million tweets this past week and over 10 million tweets this year.
