John Boyega had a quite a night, all right.

Disney and Lucasfilm hosted the red carpet premiere for Star Wars: The Force Awakens in three different theaters on Hollywood Blvd.: The Dolby Theatre, the TCL Chinese Theatre and El Capitan Theatre. In total, more than 5,000 guests attended the star-studded, invitation-only event in L.A. Monday night.

Boyega, who plays Finn in the seventh installment in the series, hit the red carpet in a custom purple Versace tuxedo. The actor and longtime Star Wars fan confirmed to E! News' Zuri Hall that the single black glove he wore was indeed a reference to Luke Skywalker, whose hand was chopped off by Darth Vader in 1980's Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. In 1983's Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, Luke wore a leather black glove over his prosthetic, robotic hand. "It's as if no one has watched the Star Wars movie," he said when asked about the accessory. "I mean, the fans will get it. This is Luke Skywalker's hand that got chopped off, and replaced with his robotic hand...This is my Star Wars-esque homage."

"I love your commitment to your craft right now," Hall told him.

"Absolutely," Boyega said. "I'm still in character."

In addition to Boyega, all of the Star Wars newcomers walked the red carpet, including Gwendoline Christie, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Oscar Isaac, Billie Lourd, Lupita Nyong'o and Daisy Ridley. Members of the original trilogy, including Anthony Daniels, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill, also posed for pictures and chatted up director J.J. Abrams and creator George Lucas.

Boyega said he couldn't believe the scope of the event.

"Is there bus service to get down this red carpet?" he joked to E! News.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is in theaters this Friday. Reviews for the movie are embargoed until Wednesday at 12:01 a.m. PT, but many of those who attended Monday's premiere have already shared their (spoiler-free) reactions via Twitter:
