Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard know how difficult the next few Empire-less months will be with no Cookie or Lucious to entertain you—and they're here for you. Their new Fox holiday special, Taraji and Terrence's White Hot Holidays, will get you through week one of the hiatus.

The rest? Well, you're on your own.

"The first Wednesday we can help you out with because that's us," Henson tells E! News of her Empire withdrawal plan. The subsequent weeks are a little fuzzier. "Go back and watch all the episodes that way so when we come back you'll be caught up," she suggests.

White Hot Holidays, Henson says, is "a variety show with comedy sketches sprinkled in, with some Christmas songs sung by some incredible artists," she says. Adds her costar and cohost, "and a whole lot of fun and holiday joy. That's what we're missing right now."

In the video above, watch Howard, Henson and their costar Jussie Smollett dish on the biggest twists from the Empire midseason finale, including what to expect when the show returns.

"The family needs to come back together," teases Howard. "The show is based on family, even though we have a whole lot of other things. The family is always working to pull itself together. There will be forces that will pull it apart but at the end of the day it's about Cookie and Lucious and what they started many years before and it's never going to go away until one of them is dead."

Below, check out an exclusive sneak peek of White Hot Holidays, with John Legend performing the Christmas classic "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town."

White Hot Holidays airs Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 9 p.m. on Fox. Empire returns to the schedule on March 30, 2016.
