Kate Gosselin and her eight kids' reality show, Kate Plus 8, returns for a new season soon and while the kids are older, one thing appears to remain unchanged: Mom still hasn't found love.

The 40-year-old reality star opened up about her personal life on NBC's Today show's fourth hour on Wednesday. She said she had gone on a blind date, which will be shown on her series.

"There's some twists and turns that are quite surprising," Kate said. "But you know, it was very...'Oh, you're gonna put a date on TV?' Well, kind of my life is on TV so it's kind of, it was like a test to anyone, you kind of have to be comfortable with cameras, whatever."

"It was a blind date, which I kind of, have always had a rule...I don't really have time to date, so I can't really give that time when in the first five minutes, I could be like, 'Um, so I could be at home in bed...' You know, it's time management. So, I agreed."

She also talked about her ideal man.

"Right off the bat, somebody who can withstand the chaos and the noise in my house," Kate said. "I've sent babysitters running and screaming, pulling their hair out. A lot of people just can't withstand all the movement in our house."

When Kathie Lee Gifford asked her if she would consider dating a man with eight children of his own if he was the guy of her dreams, she expressed reluctance, before saying, "Well, wow, he'd have to be quite amazing."

Kate and ex-husband Jon Gosselin's twin daughters are now 15 and their sextuplets are 11. The family rose to fame in 2007 with the TLC show Jon & Kate Plus, whose title was later changed to Kate Plus 8 after the couple called it quits. The fourth season of the renamed series, the ninth season of the franchise, premieres on Dec. 8.

Kate said on the Today show her kids give her advice about fashion and yes, even dating.

"Mainly Maddie, but I have to tell you...I have no idea where it came from, but they all have strong opinions," she joked. "I don't know where they got it."
