Look, up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane, it's…something that will distract you from our teary eyes! Please look in the sky and not at us. We're definitely not tearing up over a Supergirl trailer. Nope. There's nothing to see here, aside from this exclusive Supergirl trailer that will give you goose bumps. You will believe a young woman can fly!

In the new inspirational spot, we see Melissa Benoist take flight as Supergirl, aka Kara Zor-El, Superman's equally-powered cousin. And let us remind you: these special effects are from a TV show, a TV show that has a tagline that are words to live by: "Why be ordinary...When it's your destiny...To be super."

Benoist, known for her work on Glee and on the big screen in flicks like Whiplash and Danny Collins, gushed about wearing the iconic costume. "The second I put it on, something shifts inside of me," the star told E! News. "It's kind of impossible not to feel strength and empowerment and positivity and hope. It really is pretty surreal." How could she not?

Inspiration not enough for you? Don't worry, there are plenty of punches thrown in the exclusive trailer above.

The new CBS drama from superhero TV mastermind Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Ali Adler also stars Jeremy Jordan (sadly not singing, yet!) as Winn Schott, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, David Harewood as Hank Henshaw, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers and Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant. Dean Cain (of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman fame) and Helen Slater (of the Supergirl movie fame) play Kara's adoptive parents. Laura Benanti (also not singing) recurs.

Supergirl debuts Monday, Oct. 26, at 8:30 on CBS and moves to its normal timeslot on Monday, Nov. 2, at 8 p.m.
