Sometimes, celebrities just need a break from the paparazzi.

Such was the case for Amanda Bynes who stepped out Tuesday for an afternoon of shopping in West Hollywood, Calif.

After stopping into Nasty Gal on Melrose, the former Nickelodeon star started getting followed by multiple photographers. When it became a bit overwhelming, Bynes decided to get some relief at the West Hollywood police station.

According to police, Bynes was "concerned for her physical welfare" when she voluntarily stopped in. She later left on her own accord without an escort after getting some direction on how to avoid the photographers.

Police insisted to E! News that it was not a big deal without incident.

Bynes' day out comes almost a week after The Amanda Show alumna returned to Twitter where she posed with Michael Costello.

The actress attended The Society of Orphaned Armenian Relief's black-tie gala where she posed for a picture with the fashion designer. "Me and the fabulous Michael Costello (I'm wearing one of his beautiful gowns) at the SOAR Los Angeles Gala!" she tweeted.

"I had no idea Amanda was such a huge, huge fan of my work," Costello explained to E! News exclusively after his new friend made a separate appearance at Costello and Style PR's capsule collection party. "She was really cool and was super nice and we talked a lot about fashion!"

Bynes was previously enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Orange County, Calif.
