Hayley Atwell is the darling of the Internet. And the darling of the Internet took things one step further when she declared in a simple tweet that she wants to be the Doctor on Doctor Who.

During one of her signature #AskHayley Twitter question and answer sessions (she does these a lot, which is one of the reasons why she's so beloved by her fans), a fan asked Atwell if she wanted to be on Doctor Who. Atwell simply responded, "I'd like to BE Doctor Who."

Boom. The Internet collectively applauded.

Atwell, whose Dubsmash videos have been delighting superhero fans for months, is currently committed to Agent Carter (Peggy Carter 4 life) and Doctor Who currently has Peter Capaldi in the title role, but fans are already getting on the Hayley Atwell for Doctor Who bandwagon.

"I SUPPORT THIS IDEA! YOU THE FIRST FEMALE DOCTOR," one fan tweeted.

"YES, PLEASE!!! YOU'D BE AN AMAZING DOCTOR!!!!!!!" another shared.

One day the Doctor will regenerate as a woman.

"There easily could be a female Doctor. I think the next time might be a female Doctor. I don't see why not. I think it's good to do that," Doctor Who executive producer Steven Moffat has previously said.

But now two important questions: Can the TARDIS handle Hayley Atwell? And, would you rather see her as Peggy Carter or the Doctor? Assuming both shows can't go at the same time. But she's Hayley Atwell. She can do anything.

UPDATE: Atwell has taken to Twitter to respond to all the attention in a typical Hayley Atwell fashion.
