Tragedy occurred Thursday at 145-year-old Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio.

Park guest James Young, 45, lost his cellphone while on the Raptor roller coaster. After exiting the ride, Young entered a restricted area to retrieve his belongings. While he was searching, Young was struck by the roller coaster and was killed.

"The city and police departments condolences go out to the family of this gentleman," Phil Frost, Assistant Sandusky Police Chief, told Fox 8 News. "No one else was injured that we know of, from what we've discovered so far the actual train hit Mr. Young."

The amusement park tweeted about the incident along with releasing an official statement, "At approximately 5 p.m., a guest entered a restricted, fenced area of the Raptor roller coaster and was struck by the ride. Park safety officials responded immediately to the situation. Unfortunately the guest has passed away. Local authorities are on the scene conducting an investigation. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this time."

The accident happened the same day LeBron James treated 1,000 Akron students and their families to a day at the park as part of his Family Foundation's partnership with Cedar Point.

The park has since re-opened the ride.
