Courtesy TIFFThe 2015 Toronto Film Festival is one of our favorites fests in terms of star power and films being showcased, so needless to say we were freaking out when TIFF unveiled a short list of some of their upcoming selections earlier today.
And since this is the festival's 40th anniversary, you know they had to go big.
Here are the films we are beyond excited to see and talk about when the festival begins Sept. 10.
1. Demolition: Anything Gyllenhaal is involved in we are paying money for, and clearly TIFF thinks so too, as Demolition gets the plum opening night gig at the festival. The film, which won't even be released in the U.S. until April 6, 2016, sees Gyllenhaal struggle with the death of his wife, leading him to form a connection with a customer service rep (Naomi Watts) in an effort to demolish his previous life. We are hoping for lots of shirtless Gyllenhaal scenes.
2. The Martian: Besides Demolition, this space thriller is next on our list of ones we are freaking out over. It stars Matt Damon as an astronaut stranded on Mars and doing everything he can to survive on the red planet while signaling back home that he is alive. The rest of the cast is amazing too: Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Michael Pena, Kate Mara, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Donald Glover. The film's trailer was released last month—watch now!
3. The Dressmaker: This Australian film stars Kate Winslet, who returns to her tiny middle-of-nowhere hometown after working at an exclusive Parisian dress house, only to fall in love with a sexy shirtless Liam Hemsworth. We're in!
4. Stonewall: We are all still celebrating the Supreme Court's decision to legalize marriage last month and what better way to remember the history of the gay rights movement than with Roland Emmerich's film? Stonewall stars Jeremy Irvine and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
5. The Program: Lance Armstrong's rise and fall to fame is showcased by Ben Foster with co-stars Dustin Hoffman and Chris O'Dowd. The trailer for this was released last month and it is intense!
6. Maggie's Plan: This comedy seems crazy and right up our alley. Greta Gerwig stars as Maggie, who wants to have a baby but instead falls in love with married John (Ethan Hawke), which then derails his marriage. As time passes, Maggie realizes John is actually perfect for his ex-wife. Oh boy. This also stars Julianne Moore, Bill Hader and Maya Rudolph.

7. The Danish Girl: Set for a limited release in November, this love story follows Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne as transgender pioneer Lili Elbe and Alicia Vikander as Gerda Wegener. The film portrays the couple's marriage, which it takes a dramatic turn as Elbe becomes the first-ever transgender woman. This film is directed by Tom Hooper, who helmed The Kings Speech and Les Misérables.
And So Many More... Family duo Keifer Sutherland and Donald Sutherland plus Demi Moore in Forsaken; Helen Mirren in Eye in the Sky; Tom Hardy in LEGEND; Salma Hayek and Adrien Brody in Septembers of Shiraz; plus the Canadian premiere of Black Mass, starring Johnny Depp, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kevin Bacon, Dakota Johnson, Corey Stoll and Peter Sarsgaard.
