Shakira Still Pregnant, Hasn't Given Birth Yet Despite Gerard Piqué's Baby Prank

Colombian-born pop star's boyfriend tweeted the happy news in Spanish...but it was all down to a prank in honor of their country's April Fool's equivalent

Shakira's laundry service won't include diapers just yet.

While yesterday, the Colombian-born pop star set the 'net ablaze with reports that she had welcomed her first child with partner Gerard Piqué after he seemingly tweeted the happy news in Spanish.

Wrote the soccer player, "Ya ha nacido nuestro hijo! Estamos muy felices! Gracias a todos por vuestros mensajes!" In English, that roughly translates into, "Our son was born! We're very happy! Thank you all for your messages."

Seemingly straightforward, right? Wrong. Shakira has not in fact given birth and is in fact still pregnant.

Though here's hoping the baby, when it is born, inherits a little of that sense of humor.

Instead, a source confirms to E! News that the Twitter prank was simply Gerard taking part in Dia de los Inocentes, which is the Spanish equivalent of April Fool's Day. Shakira's rep also said as much.

As for Shakira, the mama-to-be (though not yet) was spotted less than two weeks ago heading into a recording studio in Barcelona.

The couple, who readily shared an ultrasound photo with the world earlier this month, has yet to reveal when, exactly, the baby is due. But safe to say the world may take any future announcements with a grain of sal. Mucho, mucho sal.
