The Apache helicopter pilot, along with scores of other Brits serving in the armed forces, did celebrate the holiday Tuesday in their own way. On Wednesday, Prince Charles thanked all the troops for their "fortitude and relentless courage."
Both of Charles' sons serve their country, although William, a search and rescue pilot, spent Christmas with his pregnant wife, Kate Middleton, and her family in Bucklebury, England. Harry and his fellow soldiers might not have had the comforts of home for the holiday, but they did enjoy a gigantic feast in Afghanistan.
The Telegraph reported that Harry and British troops noshed on turkey, joints of beef, sprouts and potatoes. Some bases even put on activities including carol services, pantomimes and sporting competitions.
Charles told those serving, including his 28-year-old son, how appreciative everyone at home was for their sacrifice. He even joked what a treat it was, "in the case of my younger son, to receive a very rare and precious letter in answer to mine."
