So You Think You Can Dance Breaks the Cycle

Injuries continue to plague the top six in time for another elimination night

America is going to get a chance to catch up with Billy Bell after all.

The often-in-danger contemporary phenom did not become the latest So You Think You Can Dance casualty Thursday despite sitting out last night's performance show, thereby stopping the string of competition-ending injuries at two.

Wait a second, this means that the solos actually mattered tonight!?

Not exactly.

Lauren Froderman, Kent Boyd and Adéchiké Torbert, none of whom have ever been in the bottom three, moved right along.

Then, after Robert Roldan and Jose Ruiz made return trips to the danger zone alongside the automatically grounded Billy, Nigel Lythgoe and the rest of the dance police opted not to send anyone home, citing the real conundrum they had on their hands.

"Billy, you set a precedent on this show this week," Nigel said forbiddingly. "This is the first time the doctors have cleared you to dance and you took the decision that you didn't want to dance this week...If you were to stay, you've had a week to rest."

Then there's the viewers' dumbfounding disconnect with Robert, who starred in another pair of fantastic routines last night, samba with Lauren and jazz with All-Star Lauren Gottlieb. He's been in and out of the bottom three like a yo-yo, despite being in some of the best dances of the season.

As for Jose, whose lack of technical training has really haunted him the past two weeks, his personality continues to go a long way and his solo tonight was insane.

Why else didn't the judges use the opportunity to let him go then, especially when they've all agreed that he's "stopped growing," excpet for when it comes to breaking?

Instead, two dancers will get the boot next week and we've got an intact Top Six performing three routines apiece on Wednesday.

Nigel also announced most of the lineup for the upcoming SYTYCD tour (tix on sale July 30!): season two's Allison Holker, season three's Dominic Sandoval, season four's Courtney Galiano, season five's Ade Obayomi, and season six champ Russell Ferguson andtop girl Kathryn McCormick.

They'll be joined by the top girl and guy from this season (Ashley Galvan, a victim of an untimely injury last week, has already been promised a spot, as well), plus four yet-to-be-named stars.
