This just in: Two years ago, Miss Paula Abdul predicted the winner of this season of American Idol. And no, she is not joining LaToya Jackson or Miss Cleo on the Psychic Friends hotline, so allow me to explain...

Before season five (yes, five) of American Idol began, I spent a day with Paula in Las Vegas for an E! shoot, and during it, she told me repeatedly about this "gorgeous Irish singing sensation" named Carly who would "blow everyone away."

She said she never gave early predictions, but in this case, she had a very strong feeling Carly would “go all the way” because she was that good. And apparently she was also invisible, because Carly was that MIA when season five began.

Well, fast-forward to Tuesday's American Idol, where—shazam!—finally the mystery of what happened to that Irish girl was revealed. We learned that Irish powerhouse Carly Smithson (she was the final audition in San Diego, and she sang "I'm Every Woman") was disqualified two years ago because of visa problems. But now she’s tatted up and married and all legal and heading to Hollywood for the new season.

So, is the ghost of Paula past right? Does Carly have what it takes to make it to the very end? Or was Simon right—was she "better two years ago"? (Note: Paula told me Simon believes the winner of American Idol should be, in fact, American...interesting point.)

And more importantly, can anyone please explain Alberto Hurtado, the giant "fan" guy, to me? Seriously, he broke my heart! If you see him, please give him a hug.

Now, vote and comment below, if you so please…
