Say a Prayer for Rose McGowan's Pooch

Rose McGowan can't seem to get a break right now. Her leg is in a brace, and one of her Boston Terriers is deathly ill

Rose McGowan has more important things to think about these days than the possibility of the actors' strike. Like a sick dog.

Fester, one of her two Boston terriers, has a brain tumor. “He’s 11 years old, but five weeks ago he was jumping in the air,” McGowan told me at today’s MaxMara and Women in Film luncheon honoring Ginnifer Goodwin at the Sunset Tower Hotel. “I’ll get to spend more time with him [if the strike occurs]. For now, we all have to say a prayer for Fester.”

McGowan, herself, isn’t in the best of shape either...

She had to limp her way through the fete, because her left leg is in a brace.

“I had a fight with a wall, and the wall won,” she explained. “It sucks. I have to wear it for six weeks.”

But that’s not stopping her from jetting to Europe in the next few weeks. McGowan says she still plans to attend two AIDS fundraisers: the Life Ball in Vienna and amfAR’s big to-do during the Cannes Film Festival.

Also at the luncheon—hosted by Vanity Fair editor Krista Smith and Women in Film president Jane Fleming—were Lauren Graham, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Numb3rs star Navi Rawat and up-and-coming actress Summer Bishil.

Goodwin will be honored with the MaxMara Face of the Future Award at WIF’s Crystal + Lucy Awards on June 17 in L.A.
