Monty Brinton / CBS People.com is reporting that Britney Spears will return to How I Met Your Mother for one more episode. So...is it true?
So far, no confirmation from CBS or Fox studios (which produces HIMYM), and our own sources say that although Britney has been invited to come back, nothing has been decided as far as they know.
Executive producer Carter Bays did recently tell me they'd love to have Britney reprise her role, saying, "The door is open." He added that the way in which Brit's character, Abby, would return might be connected to her final scene in the March 24 episode, during which Abby hooks up with Barney (Neil Patrick Harris). (Spoiler alert: Sources tell us Barney may have his hands full, because he's also heading toward a romance with a character we already know—a storyline that will make many fans giddy...More on that in Monday's chat.)
With Britney's onscreen boss, Sarah Chalke, returning as a love interest for Ted (Josh Radnor), it would seem likely Brit would pop up again as her receptionist, if she decides to come back.
