Richard Gere signs on for two new flicks, including an Amelia Earhart biopic

Richard Gere is flying high with a pair of big-screen projects.

According to Variety, the thesp will has signed on to star in Amelia, the Hilary Swank-starring Amelia Earhart biopic, as the pilot's publisher husband George Putnam.

After production wraps on that project, he'll hightail it over to the set of Brooklyn's Finest, a cop flick revolving around three officers who mine incredibly different career paths only to find themselves connected in the same incident. Don Cheadle and Ethan Hawke also star.
