Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Sarah Michelle Gellar opens up about her and husband Freddie Prinze Jr.'s two children in a new interview, in which she reveals that she's been teaching their eldest the value of helping those in need.
The married couple and co-stars of I Know What You Did Last Summer and the Scooby-Doo films (as well as the new Star Wars Rebels series) are parents to daughter Charlotte 5, and son Rocky, 2.
"We've been getting the kids at my daughter's pre-school involved in things and now one by one, they've all stopped asking for presents at birthday parties and they all want to do different donations, whether it's canned food or baby diapers and wipes," Gellar told E! News in a recent interview.
"I didn't have much growing up, so I'm in a fortunate position where I can provide my daughter with dolls or toys, whatever that thing is," she added. "But to see her really want to give back for those other children is the best gift as a mom that I could ever receive."
Gellar, a New York City native and former child star who lives in the Los Angeles area with her family, is a celebrity spokesperson for No Kid Hungry, a charity that aims to end child hunger in the United States.
Charlotte is starting kindergarten in the fall. As a pre-school graduation present, Gellar took her daughter on a mother-daughter trip to New York City. The two saw several Broadway musicals, including On the 20th Century. Charlotte got to meet its female lead actress, Wicked alum Kristin Chenoweth.
"Charlotte, my daughter, is my performer," Gellar told E! News. "She's my dramatic, definitely all-girl."
Meanwhile, the star's son is "kind of the goofball," she added.
"He goes for the laugh, like, the girls in school all love him," she said. "Sometimes I have to question whether he has any guy friends at school, ‘cause he'll come home and he'll talk about Lila, Lily, Scarlett, Poppy…and I'm like, 'Do you have boy friends? Do you have guy friends?' I'll get all these calls from these moms, like, all these girls asking for playdates with my son and I'm thinking, 'Oh my God, it starts already.'"
"He likes the older ladies, there's no question," she added. "He definitely likes my daughter's friends."
