Nate is a survivor.
On Wednesday's series premiere of Botched By Nature, doctors Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif visit Merced, Calif. to meet with patient Nate.
"Nate has an identical twin brother, but he does not look like his identical twin brother," Dr. Nassif tells Dr. Dubrow in the clip above. "When they were in utero…I think it's called twin-to-twin transfusion."
Dr. Nassif explains, "Twin-to-twin transfusion has nothing to do with DNA. It's a disease that the placenta cuts off the blood supply to one of the twins."
He then tells Dr. Dubrow, "Usually you can do that and the other twin will usually die, remember that, but he survived, but he has all these problems. And he's got a normal twin brother, doesn't have these problems."
The doctors are meeting with Nate and his family to see how they can help him.
"Imagine how this makes Nate feel to see his identical twin brother all the time and they don't look alike at all," Dr. Nassif says.
