Is it 15-Love? Or 15-Lust? Tennis pros Paul Bettany and Kirsten Dunst stand at opposite ends of their careers: He's a journeyman ready to pack it in, and she's on the upswing of her career. The two meet at Wimbledon, and, after an awkward first encounter, they, uh, return each others' volley. Like most sports flicks, it plays out exactly as any underdog tale would and the clichés come faster than an Andy Roddick serve.
But there's something likeable about this pair that allows you to put the film's faults aside and just enjoy. Director Richard Loncraine showcases Bettany's wit for a few laughs, and Dunst, coming off her Spidey adventures, continues to ooze cuteness. It's not exactly an ace, but Wimbeldon does serve up a lighthearted courtship that's tough to resist.
