It's hard to commit to We Don't Live Here Anymore. On one hand, this talky drama about troubled couples features actors born to deliver realistic, chatty material like this: Mark Ruffalo, Laura Dern, Peter Krause and Naomi Watts. On the other hand, it's a long, slow trip seeing the foursome hop beds in this very bleak look at marriage. Worse yet, you'll leave thinking that fighting and cheating are easy but caring and commitment are hard.
Based on two short stories from Andre Dubus, the script feels stitched together, and even with its vividly drawn characters and compelling start, the whole thing eventually stalls. It's probably better if you just didn't get involved.
