Sandra Bullock the ball-busting slob or Sandra Bullock the babe? You get them both in this not-so-covered undercover caper about an FBI agent who enters a beauty pageant to catch a mad bomber. You also get William Shatner doing an uproarious send-up of game-show-host-style pageant emceeing and Michael Caine nearly running off with the tiara as the foppish pageant consultant who must transform Bullock's grunting goose into a swan on short notice.
Despite the film's predictable trappings, Bullock shines, tackling the physical comedy with bodacious aplomb. And Benjamin Bratt is a hunky addition as Bullock's FBI partner-turned-burgeoning love interest. Add Miss Box Office to that stack of sashes.
