Come for Angelina Jolie, stay for the Life lessons. At least that's the hope in this somewhat cheesy get-your-junk-in-order story. A blond Mrs. Billy Bob plays a Seattle newscaster looking to climb the network ladder, but she jumps right off when homeless soothsayer Tony Shalhoub tells her she's gonna kick the bucket in a few days. Okay, so we learn stuff we already know: Don't work that hard, fall in love and listen to a lot of loud rock music.
Jolie's cute and charming love interest Edward Burns is likable and has cool hair, and that's enough to make you root for the good guy (and gal) and gloss over the film's inadequacies. Besides, if she can make stuff like Life work, maybe Angelina won't be tempted to make another Tomb Raider.
