Long before the ending of Hollywood Ending you're likely to find yourself amazingly bored (yes, even if you're a Woody Allen fan). Because there's Allen--again all jangled nerves and insecure and mumbling about it--surrounded by beautiful women (Debra Messing, Téa Leoni) and taking jabs at Hollywood. The premise had promise: Allen plays a washed-up director trying to make his comeback film who--oy!--becomes psychosomatically blind because of his personal issues.
But there's little follow-through as the story meanders, well, blindly, hoping that Allen's tiring schtick sticks. Some antics will crack smiles and Messing's too-short role as Allen's tacky girlfriend stands out. Our recommendation? Keep this one out of your sight.
