Domestic Disturbance is the sort of ho-hum "thriller" where the police are so dim-witted they search a furnace that's full of fresh dead guy and find...nothing. Not a belt buckle, not a few teeth--not even the smell of charred human flesh. They're idiots, clearly, but then so is mostly everyone else in this by-the-numbers bore (think a second-rate Hand That Rocks the Cradle).
That includes John Travolta, an everyman who walks through his role as Matthew O'Leary's suspicious father, missing obvious clues that there's something so wrong with his ex-wife's new husband (Vince Vaughn) that his son would accuse him of murder. Vaughn's the only one worth watching--a ferociously charismatic actor so willing to go bad you're almost rooting for him to win. But trust us, you can wait to do that until this Disturbance comes to cable.
