Disney reportedly dropped $200 million on this animation extravaganza. Was it worth it? Hard to say--it doesn't offer anything in state-of-the-art dino-FX that we haven't seen before in Jurassic Park. What it does deliver is a simple plot for kids to follow as they watch these cuddly computer-generated dinos. Aladar (Sweeney), a baby Iguanadon, gets lost at birth and reared by a family of lemurs (evolutionists, of course, will have prehistoric bones to pick with the film).
A catastrophe forces them to the mainland, where they join a caravan of vegan dinos on a quest for the promised land. Their journey through the barren desert full of hungry T-Rexes, slashing raptors and the Pharoah's army (wait, scratch that last one) is a story as old as, well, fossils, but the little ones will like it anyway.
