The actors may have enough grease in their hair to lube an entire fleet of classic Cadillacs, but even that can't help this sputtering flick about totally not scary Brooklyn gangbangers, circa 1958. Brothers Brad Renfro and Stephen Dorff are with the honorable Deuces, ya see? And the Vipers are hell-raisers who are always starting trouble--and finishing it with their fists--especially when Renfro falls for Vipers gal Fairuza Balk.
Shelved for years, there's not enough space here to pick apart the movie's hokey dialogue, screwy plot missteps, poor casting and off-target attempts at being Reservoir Dogs cool. But when you're watching a flick like this and you're expecting--no, make that hoping--someone's gonna bust out with a chorus of "Maria," then you're in pretty bad shape. Yo, take this one out, Johnny.
