The Most Talked About Maternity Looks at the Met Gala Through the Years: Kim Kardashian, Kate Hudson, Emily Blunt and More

These celebs have had some seriously fashion-forward baby bumps

Sorry Kanye West fans, Kim Kardashian will be attending the Met Gala solo this year.

The "Ultralight Beam" rapper is taking some time off, opting to stay at home in L.A. with North and Saint instead of heading to New York with his wife for fashion's biggest night.

Kim has actually never gone to the gala alone—she's consistently had Yeezy by her side—and as it turns out, Kanye wasn't her only date on two occasions. As we recently learned from an update on her personal app, the Instagram queen has attended the Met Gala pregnant, not once, but twice! Besides her famous floral look by Givenchy in 2013, the star was also pregnant when she rocked her feathered, nearly nude Roberto Cavalli dress in 2015.

Dressing for a baby bump may not be easy, but Kim K is hardly the only celeb to go to the Met Gala pregnant.

For instance, besties Emily Blunt and Olivia Wilde both attended last year's Met Gala pregnant.

The Into the Woods actress and House star came as each other's dates, the former dazzling in a sparkly blue dress that hugged her baby bump, while the latter dressed in a draped black dress with futuristic metallic accents by Michael Kors.

Blunt was expecting her second child with husband John Krasinski, and daughter Violet joined big sis Hazel soon after. Wilde was also expecting her second child; she and Jason Sudeikis welcomed daughter Daisy in October.

Meanwhile, Blake Lively was also aglow at the 2016 Met Gala—no highlighter required!

The Café Society star and Ryan Reynolds had their first daughterJames Reynolds, two years ago. The Hollywood couple welcomed baby number twoInes Reynolds, in September of last year.

The actress was positively stunning, concealing her baby bump in a flowing silk and chiffon gown from Burberry. The dress not only featured beautiful floral embroidery, but a detachable cape (fitting, given her superhero hubby)!

Contrary to the Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology theme, maternity wear seemed to be the dominant look at the 2016 Met Gala.

Kerry Washington and husband Nnamdi Asomugha attended the gala shortly after making their pregnancy announcement, and the couple looked absolutely incredible.

The Scandal star wore couture Marc Jacobs for the event, styled with a pop of color from her magenta hair.

In October, the actress quietly gave birth to her second child.

Lake Bell wasn't interested in hiding her baby bump when she was pregnant when the Met Gala rolled around, either.

The Secret Life of Pets actress chose an electric red Tommy Hilfiger dress for the occasion, attending the gala in 2014 with her husband, celebrity tattoo artist Scott Campbell.

Though the dress looks simple at first glance, it also features a pleated train, making the bold dress even more glamorous.

And whether it was the baby on the way or the gold sequin gown, Jessica Alba was absolutely radiant in Ralph Lauren at the 2011 Met Gala.

The Fantastic Four star, who hadn't yet launched her now billion-dollar Honest Company, was pregnant with daughter Haven, her second child with husband Cash Warren.

Alba wasn't the only shining pregnant star at the 2011 Met Gala, either—Kate Hudson also sported a shimmery look for the event, dressed in an embellished gown with matching accessories.

At seven months' pregnant, the Oscar-nominated actress' only nod to bubbly celebration was her champagne-colored Stella McCartney dress.

Bingham Bellamy, her second child and son with then-boyfriend Matt Bellamy, was born that July.

While "maternity-friendly" might not be first on your list when you think of couture must-haves, these stars have shown that the two are not mutually exclusive. We can't wait to see what this year's Met Gala has in store!
