Just because fans clamor for nostalgia doesn't mean they'll get it

Nostalgia is huge in 2016...for the fans.

Viewers of iconic TV shows such as Dawson's Creek and Friends have been clamoring for reunions since the day the programs went off the air, and save for a few real-life run-ins between co-stars, there hasn't been much. This year Netflix revived Gilmore Girls and Full House in the form of Fuller House, turning the Internet upside with fandom, nostalgia and more. With so much love for old TV shows in the world, it's no wonder that fans want to reboot their old favorite shows. Unfortunately, the stars of these shows don't necessarily agree no matter how passionate the fan base is.

Stars such as Katie HolmesJennifer AnistonLauren Conrad and more have all sound off on potential reunions, but each one respectfully declined to participate. Why? Well, here are their reasons in their own words:

1. Holmes on a Dawson's Creek reunion: "I don't think we're going to do a reunion," the 37-year-old actress said on the Just Jenny Show. "We did grow up, but we see each other every now and then. I think that the charm of the show was Kevin Williamson's writing and it was of that time and it gave teenagers this voice. It was a very, very special time—a special show and I loved every minute of it."

2. Aniston on a Friends Reunion: "Honestly, I don't know what we would do," Aniston told ITV's Lorraine of getting the beloved gang back together. "I think that period of time was sort of nostalgic. I think why people have such an affection for it is because even though it was only 12 years ago it ended, or 13—God, it's getting farther and farther away—there was something about a time where our faces weren't stuffed into cell phones. We weren't checking Facebooks and Instagrams. We were in a room together, in a coffee shop together. We were talking, having conversations. We have lost that."

3. Matt LeBlanc also rejected the idea of a Friends reunion, explaining that there probably wasn't a good enough plot to bring them back together.

"Friends was this magical, cool thing, like lightning in a bottle and I feel super fortunate to be part of it,'" LeBlanc told the Daily Mail. "But I can't see a reunion not feeling gratuitous. What would the story be? We all get together and what? Have coffee?"

4. and 5. Both Danny Masterson and Ashton Kutcher said no to a That '70s Show reunion, but they do stage co-star reunions on their new Netflix series The Ranch: "There's probably some way of doing it that it would actually be brilliant," Masterson told EW, "but it's got a 99 percent chance of not, so why take that chance?"

Kutcher added, "Whenever something is great, the first thing people want to have happen is to have it rebuilt, redone; they want more of what they love,But the minute you try to do that, in a lot of cases you end up losing the thing that was beautiful about it in the first place. That '70s Show is a nostalgic show. I think it was nostalgic as it was being made, and now it's nostalgic for a different reason. And I just don't know that anything that we're going to do that would be new would be better than what we did. And when you run that risk, I think it's better to leave things alone."

6. Conrad on a potential The Hills reunion: "I don't think the whole cast has been in the same room since the finale," Conrad told E! News. "There's a lot of them really, so it would be hard."

7. Danica McKellar, cast member of The Wonder Years, blamed co-star Fred Savage for the lack of reunion: : "I don't think so," she told E! News. "I mean, Fred [Savage]'s kind of out of the acting business. He's a director now." Maybe he could direct a reunion? "Yeah, I'm open to anything that sounds fun and is going to entertain people, but I wouldn't hold your breath," McKellar said.

8. Zach Braff said it would be too difficult to please people in a Scrubs reunion: "I don't want to see old Dr. J.D. Dorian," he once shared. "Everyone's going to have different vision of what the character is like, so to have that materialize is going to disappoint most people."
