Disney parks have been going through a number of changes the past few years. In order to make way for the new, many beloved staples of Disneyland and Disney World have ended. People were forced to say goodbye to Disney Dollars, along with rides like the Tower of Terror. Now, in what might be the wildest change we've seen in a while, one park is getting rid of their Sleeping Beauty Castle. You'll recognize it as the castle you see as you walk inside the park. The iconic landmark will be no more at Hong Kong Disneyland so that they may make way for an updated park experience. The company made the announcement via press release, and we're certain the tears of Disney fans could be felt around the world. Okay, maybe it's not that dramatic, but it is pretty crazy to get rid of something as big as this.

The Hong Kong park will start revamping the park in 2018 and finish in 2023. In other words, Sleeping Beauty Castle isn't the only change they're making. Plans for a new Marvel and a new Frozen area are in the works. As for the famous castle, HKDL writes that it "will also be transformed to create spectacular entertainment experiences for guests." The new and improved landmark, along with a "hub" area, will be home to shows and various entertainment. Fans will be able to "celebrate every prince and princess who ever wished upon a star and dared to follow a dream." Sounds good to us!

If you live in an area with a Disney theme park that isn't their Hong Kong branch, thank your lucky stars this isn't going down where you are. We could only imagine the uproar if they decided to get rid of any other castles. R.I.P. Sleeping Beauty Castle.

We can only hope what's coming next is equally as magical.
