Jimmy Kimmel Live! is rolling out the (RED) carpet Tuesday night.
For the second year in a row, host Jimmy Kimmel is joining forces with Bono and (RED) for a special episode of ABC's late-night show in an effort to raise awareness and money to help the fight against AIDS. E! News has the exclusive first look at Kristen Bell, DJ Khaled, Halsey, Herbie Hancock, Neil Patrick Harris, The Killers, Julia Roberts, Channing Tatum filming together.
In honor of World AIDS Day on Dec. 1, Jimmy Kimmel Live! is kicking off (SHOPATHON)RED, featuring limited edition (RED) products, plus once-in-a-lifetime experiences with celebrities via OMAZE.
"Thanks to the kindness of some of the biggest stars in the world, we have a great show for a great cause," Kimmel tells E! News in a statement. "World AIDS Day is Dec. 1 and I'm honored to be a part of this very special night to benefit (RED)."
Bono will sing a re-worked version of Cole Porter's "Well, Did You Evah!" and the Killers will perform Christmas songs. "The Killers are doing Christmas songs to end all Christmas songs," Bono said with a laugh, "which actually, believe or not, has me singing, 'If you don't help people with AIDS you're going to hell.'" Kimmel revealed he wrote that line, while Brandon Flowers wrote the rest. "But that's true — if you don't help people with AIDS you are going to hell, and that seems like a good enough reason to help alone," he said. "I mean, just think of yourselves."
Jokes aside, (RED) is on a mission to stop AIDS by 2020.
"It is a battle now for funding. It's just a street battle, pitch battle, and we have to keep this stuff in the news or literally those people don't get the drugs. It's that simple," Bono said last week (via The Washington Post). "We have to just remind people that America has led the war on this tiny little virus and is winning the war, but it is unthinkable, but it is possible, that if we stall on funding then we start to undo all this good work."
The auction gives fans to sit front and center for a private U2 rehearsal show—and get flown out and put up in a 4-star hotel in a city on the rock band's upcoming tour. Not your cup of tea? Then you can enjoy an actual cup of tea with Bono and Roberts to talk movies and music.
Harris is auctioning a trip to New York City, where a fan will join him for a Broadway show and dinner at one of his favorite hotspots. Looking for something sexier? Tatum is offering tickets the premiere of Magic Mike Live. The lucky winner will be flown to Las Vegas and stay at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino before meeting Tatum and his dancers. So many abs, so little time!
Each donation gives fans a chance to win a grand prize. The more money a person donates, the more entries he or she receives. Campaign perks include everything from a Key to Success Keychain (thanks to DJ Khaled) to an autographed handkerchief and bowtie (thanks to Tatum).
To celebrate (RED)'s 10th anniversary, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will match every dollar raised by (RED) this year up to $78 million. Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:35.
