Dexter is turning 10. Yes, your favorite serial killer—hey, he had a code, he only killed bad people—debuted on October 1, 2006.

"Wow, 10 years. It's amazing," Michael C. Hall says in the exclusive retrospective above. "People often come up and say, ‘Hey man, favorite serial killer,' and it's like, ‘Do you have a list?'"

Hey man, don't judge people who are crushin' on Dexter Morgan.

"In the first season it was just so deliciously awkward and tense and brutal. We were doing something that hadn't quite been done: inviting people to root for a serial killer," he says.

To celebrate Dexter's big birthday, Showtime is airing a marathon of episodes hand-picked by the loyal Dexter fans on Saturday, Oct. 1, exactly 10 years after Dexter's debut.

"It was a really liberating experience," Hall says of playing the fan-favorite killer with a code.

As for what's going on with Dex now, well, "I think Dexter's dark passenger is still wit him," Hall teases.

The Dexter marathon begins Saturday, Oct. 1 at 12 p.m. on Showtime.
