Pardon the pun, but this first peek at Ghost Rider on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has got us all fired up.

ABC has released the first teaser for season four with the infamous Marvel character in action—and let us just say, vengeance has never looked so hot. (Get it? Because there are flames.)

"They say when a rider burns you, he burns your soul," someone ominously warns as we watch Robbie Reyes (Gabriel Luna) rev up his hot rod and drive it into oncoming traffic while in pursuit of his next target.

The clip is very brief—We're talking "15 seconds long" brief—but it also gives us a few quick shots of Fitz (Iain de Caestecker), new partners Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Mack (Henry Simmons), and an on-the-lam Daisy/Quake (Chloe Bennet). And trust us when we say that they all look sufficiently concerned. Men who spontaneously burst into flames tend to have that effect.

"Season 4 will unquestionably be the series' biggest, most ambitious story yet, and it all begins with the introduction of one of our greatest legacy characters in Ghost Rider," Jeph Loeb, executive producer/head of Marvel Television, said in a statement when the character's involvement in season four was revealed at Comic-Con. "When the Spirit of Vengeance rides into S.H.I.E.L.D., it'll change everything."

Ghost Rider isn't the only new face who'll be giving our favorite agents trouble when the show returns. Now that they've been legitimized once again and no longer need to operate in the shadows, they'll be under the leadership of a new Director—one whose identity is purposely being kept under wraps. All we know about the guy is he's being played by Jason O'Hara and the character is one "whose Marvel roots go back to the 1940s."

Elsewhere in the season premiere, appropriately titled "The Ghost," newly demoted Coulson, along with Mack, will be tasked with tracking down and confirming the existence of Enhanced people—a.k.a. Inhumans. Meanwhile, May (Ming-Na Wen) will be tasked with training specialist strike teams, while Fitz and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) have taken a big step in their relationship.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for season four on Tuesday, Sept. 20 in its new, later timeslot, 10 p.m., on ABC.
