Thomas Gibson has hopped on the Twitter train in an effort to stay more connected to his fans following his firing from Criminal Minds.
The actor took to social media earlier today to thank those that have stood by his side during the drama surrounding his departure from the hit CBS show last week.
"I wish I could thank each of you for your friendship & support. I love Criminal Minds and I'm disappointed by what's happened," he wrote as his first tweet.
"I'm here on Twitter so we can stay connected in the days to come, and talk directly with each other. The support you show means the world to me and my family. This is not an ending, but a beginning as well. Thank you all."
The 54-year-old actor added a similar sentiment on his Instagram page, saying, "I'm here now and also on Twitter…I really appreciate your support."
Last week, E! News reported that Gibson was fired following an on-set altercation with a producer.
ABC Studios and CBS Studios released the following joint statement: "Thomas Gibson has been dismissed from Criminal Minds. Creative details for how the character's exit will be addressed in the show will be announced at a later date."
Gibson, who played Aaron Hotchner since the show's 2005 debut, was suspended in July after kicking a writer on the show over "creative differences" while the two were working on an episode that Gibson was directing.
Shortly after the firing news was announced, Gibson released his own statement:
"I love Criminal Minds and have put my heart and soul into it for the last twelve years. I had hoped to see it through to the end, but that won't be possible now. I would just like to say thank you to the writers, producers, actors, our amazing crew, and, most importantly, the best fans that a show could ever hope to have."
