There's been a lot of politics going on. A lot of speeches, a lot of statistics, a lot of voting and a lot of back and forth between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, but for a few moments each night during the Democratic National Convention, we were able to break away and enjoy some music.
Such was the case tonight during night three of the DNC in Philadelphia, when a group of Broadway stars and familiar faces shared a handful of microphones to serenade the crowd to a rendition of "What the World Needs Now Is Love," which was recorded to honor the victims from the Orlando nightclub massacre in June.
Proceeds from the tune benefit the LGBT Center of Central Florida.
Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Debra Messing, Rosie Perez and Darren Criss were among the roughly 40 performers who sang the memorable song, as many in the crowd (including Lance Bass) swayed from side to side as they sang along.
The performance ended with DNC attendees chanting "Love trumps hate."
