Goodbye Scully, hello Media! Gillian Anderson debuted her new American Gods look on Twitter and it's sure different than the last time we saw the Emmy winner on our TVs.

Anderson tweeted the above photo with this caption: "We'll be telling this story. #Media @AmericanGodsSTZ."

In the anticipated new series on Starz, Anderson will play Media the mouthpiece of the New Gods. She functions as their public face and sales representative in the series from Bryan Fuller based on Neil Gaiman's novel. The character takes on the form of various iconic celebrities, according to Starz, so that Marilyn Monroe look is no fluke. "She lives off the attention and worship that people give to screens-to their laptops, their TVs, to their iPhones in their hands while they watch their TVs. Ever the perky spokesperson, and always in control, she spins stories in whatever direction best suits her," Starz said in a release.

American Gods tells the story of a war between the old and new gods as the traditional mythological gods start to lose believers to a younger group who reflect society and the modern love of media, celebrity, drugs, technology and money. The cast also includes Orlando Jones, Ian McShane, Pablo Schreiber, Crispin Glover, Ricky Whittle and Cloris Leachman.

Anderson recently reprised the role of Special Agent Dana Scully in the six-episode return of The X-Files on Fox. She hit the stage in Brooklyn in A Streetcar Named Desire and recently wrapped work on the third and final season of The Fall opposite Jamie Dornan.
