Prepare to bookmark the Hallmark Channel, because the legendary diva just booked herself a sweet little gig with the network. Carey is going to develop, executive produce, direct and star in not one, not two, but three different TV movies for the network. (And that's on top of her upcoming E! docuseries, airing later this year, of course. Did you think we would mention her without plugging it?)
Now wizened Mariah fans will find this story familiar—she previously collaborated with Hallmark on this winter's Mariah Carey's Merriest Christmas, and yes, it was as magical as it sounds. The deal caps off a pretty standout period in the singer's life. She of course has her docuseries, she's in the middle of her Vegas residency, and she's planning a blowout wedding to her betrothed, James Packer.
But don't think that means she's going to be lying down on the job—if we know Mimi, she's going to go all out on these TV movies. And, naturally, we have a few ideas for her next brainstorm.
1. Christmas themes.
Is it really a Mariah Carey movie if we don't get an excuse to incorporate "All I Want For Christmas" at least once? No it is not. We'd love to see Mariah spreading holiday cheer to, say, the extra-long lines at airport security.
2. '90s dance moves.
Crocheted crop not required, of course. But we are going to require a minimum of two to three "Heartbreaker" moves.
3. Jennifer Lopez shade.
So we know this feud is kind of all in our imagination, but what a beautiful fake feud it is. There has to be a way to slip a sly "I don't know her" into the script.
4. Badass Mimi.
We promise the order of these suggestions are pure coincidence. (Wink, wink.) But unfortunate timing aside, we'd really tune into to a made-for-TV movie that featured the singer doing some sort of action stunt, preferably having to do with revenge.
5. Motorcycle Mimi.
Cue the chase scene...
6. A Mariah Carey-fied movie breakup.
Rumor has it that one of the Hallmark Channel flicks is going to be timed to their big Valentine's Day promotions, so what better occasion to watch the Diva let a loser guy down not easily at all.
7. Sports. All the sports.
Gurl, yes.
8. A ripped-from-the-headlines wedding.
"This is number three, darling." No one is more hilariously real about what goes down in the romantic life of a celebrity, especially when it's the, cough, third time around. Let's see some more of that onscreen, please.
9. Fashion, fashion, fashion.
We're talking all the Mariah Carey specialties: Glitter, sequins, millions of accessories, sky-high heels. The Hallmark Channel's wardrobe budget probably isn't the largest, but it's time to get creative.
10. Cameos from her kids.
Look at those squishy faces! Moroccan and Monroe had to have inherited some of their mom's onscreen talent, to it's time to let them shine. Perhaps they can participate in the aforementioned '90s dance moves if we're lucky.
