Compared to not last year, but the year of her Oscar de la Renta gown (Tay was too busy killing it on her 1989 world tour to attend in 2015), it's clear the international sensation has turned a new, bleached-blonde leaf. With a new Vogue-induced haircut comes a new Louis Vuitton-clad image?
It's no surprise her relationship with the fashion bible has grown her style sensibilities, but on May 2nd, 2016, it all came to fruition: Her new hair has dictated a new sense of personal style.
Without further ado, 2014 Met Gala Taylor, meet 2016 Met Gala (co-chair) T. Swift.
2014: The singer donned a classically romantic hairstyle and red lip, which is, debatably, what you would have expected. Those waves could have easily been filed under her signature style that year.
2016: She rocked punchy, yet refined bedhead, which was a direct result of the recent Vogue cover shoot makeover she underwent. As for her dark lips? It was yet another unexpected touch reminding you she's no longer afraid to make bold choices. Does she have the haircut to thank for that? Absolutely.
2014: Her stunning gown had an uber-traditional neckline and flowing train. It was a beautiful dress, but one could argue the songstress was playing it safe.
2016: She wore a party-girl mini dress complete with crop top-esque cutouts. Sure, it's not a new concept for the star, per se, (remember both her during- and after-Grammys outfits, similar cutouts and the tiered, ruffled skirt takes you back to her country days), but it's the combination that has us convinced. She's evolving! Not to mention, how surprising was the metallic snakeskin print? Case closed.
2014: In satin pink pumps, she climbed the red stairs. Compared to the gorgeous gown, her shoes weren't much to look at.
2016: Her feet were wrapped in knee-high, thick-strapped leather sandals. They were easily as statement-making as her metallic mini. It's clear, with her new hair, there's no holding her back.
Once Taylor's hair grows out, it'll be interesting to see how her style evolves with it.
