This Valentine's Day Will Bring the End of the World, According to Ghostbusters II

A psychic on Bill Murray's show in the 1989 film said that the world will end on Feb. 14, 2016

When Ghostbusters II hit theaters in 1989 and we heard the psychic on Venkman's (Bill Murray) cheesy talkshow predict that the end of the world would happen on Feb. 14, 2016, it seemed so far away.

"2016?! That's the future!" we scoffed. "Cars will be flying and we'll all be eating meals in capsule form by then! That's ages away."

Well, guess what, y'all? We have officially arrived at the end of the world, if you believe Elaine's (Chloe Webb) story. According to her source, which as you'll remember was an alien who bought her a drink while she was staying at the Holiday Inn in Paramus, NJ, the apocalypse is scheduled for this Valentine's Day, which is only two days away.

It's a bummer of a schedule for the end of humanity. One minute you'll be sipping wine with your significant other and feeding each other chocolates and the next minute you'll be running from the aliens and/or the fire and brimstone that's raining down from the sky. At least it'll make for a memorable final date, right?

Venkman doesn't really believe her because as he said, "you just can't trust" aliens. Oh, and also aliens probably wouldn't have a room at a Holiday Inn in New Jersey. Plus, the end of the world already happened! The other psychic on the show was totally right and the world almost ceased to exist that New Year's Eve when the portrait of Vigo tried to start s--t.

Damn, Ghostbusters II was a great movie. It's probably time to rewatch it, because if the end of the world is coming, then at least we'll go out with some comedy in our hearts. And if the end of the world isn't this Valentine's Day, then all we did was watch a classic film. Win-win.

So hopefully we'll see you guys on Monday, alive and well! And if not, we'll meet you in the afterlife. Drinks are on us.
