And yes, there's that possible opportunity of delivering an unforgettable acceptance speech in front of your Hollywood peers. But perhaps one of the biggest decisions before award show day is deciding who gets your lucky plus one ticket.
For Alicia Vikander, her decision for the Academy Awards has already been made. And in our humble opinions, it's a pretty sweet choice.
"Oh, my mom!" she shared with E! News' Catt Sadler after being asked who will be her date to the upcoming ceremony.
As for the one person she can't forget to thank if and when she wins, that's an easy one too. "Mom again," she admitted with a giant smile on her face.
Fans and critics alike agree that the actress delivered an unforgettable performance in The Danish Girl. In fact, her work already earned her an award for Best Supporting Actress at the 2016 SAG Awards.
"Honestly, this is the highest honor," she gushed when accepting her trophy. "Just to be invited to join this stage. Thank you."
With the possibility of receiving another award, could the actress be worried about where she's going to place all these special prizes? Not so fast, everyone.
"I will have to find out. I'm renovating my house at the moment," she shared with E! News at the Oscars nominees luncheon inside the Beverly Hilton Hotel. "If that one day would happen, then you would have to see what happens then. That's like such a surreal thing."
