Homeland left fans devastated in the season five finale, when, after a season of near-deaths and a brain hemorrhage, doctors said fan-favorite Quinn (Rupert Friend) was brain dead and would never recover. So will he be dead when the Showtime series returns?
"I know and have seen exactly as much as you guys know and have seen and the writers they tend to do things for very specifics things and are very careful in what they show and how they tell the story," David Nevins, Showtime's president, said at the 2016 Winter TCA Press Tour. "So clearly there is no definitive answer given from what we've seen so far. Where that leaves us for next season, we shall all have to tune in to find out."
Oh, come on! However, Quinn fans might NOT want him to live, seeing as Gary Levine, the net's president of programming, warned, "In terms of its reality, Quinn is severely damaged. There is no question about that. So the life or death question remains, if he should live, it will not be in any way, shape or form the way he's lived to date."
In better Homeland news, Nevins revealed the setting for next season...and the show is coming back to the United States after spending time overseas in Germany.
"Homeland will be set next year in New York City, in and around New York, and it will be set domestically," he said, adding that it's not "primarily, not exclusively" in NYC. Levine added that fans can expect the show to "reinvent" itself yet again after relocating to the Big Apple.
But will the upcoming season be Homeland's last? It doesn't seem likely, though Nevins admitted he's had "vague conversations" with showrunner Alex Gansa about the ultimate ending.
"And the good news is it's not imminent," Levine added. "He sees many seasons to come."
Homeland will return later this year on Showtime.
