Well, that was unexpected!

In what might be the biggest surprise of the night, Amazon's Mozart in the Jungle took home the award for Best TV Comedy Series at the 2016 Golden Globes, beating out award show favorites Orange Is the New Black (Netflix) and Veep (HBO).

Mozart in the Jungle also beat out Transparent, another Amazon Video series, HBO's Silicon Valley and Hulu's Casual to take home the big prize.

"Thank you to the HPFA so much, we're so lucky that we get to do a show that honors musicians, " executive producer Paul Weitz said while accepting the award on stage. "An orchestra is like a family, sometimes a dysfunctional family...so we'd like to thank our whole Mozart family."

Mozart in the Jungle stars Gael Garcia Bernal, Lola Kirke, Saffron Burrows, Hannah Dunne, Peter Vack, Malcolm McDowell, Bernadette Peters and Jason Schwartzman, who also helped to develop the series. Bernal was also nominated for his work on the series.

The story was inspired by Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs, and Classical Music, a 2005 memoir written by oboist Blair Tindall.

The second season of Mozart in the Jungle was available to stream on Amazon Video in December 2015.
