Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's rekindled romance must be going pretty well.

The singer was expected to perform tonight at a party in honor of "Hands of Love," her gay rights anthem from the film Freeheld, and the song's writer Linda Perry.

However, Perry announced that Cyrus couldn't make it because she was still in Australia. While didn't mention Liam Hemsworth, sources told E! News yesterday that Cyrus and her ex-fiance are back on again after they were spotted in his native Australia on Sunday "cuddling and kissing" at the Falls Music Festival in Byron Bay.

Even so, Perry had nothing but praise for the "Wrecking Ball" pop songstress. She said it was Freeheld star and producer Ellen Page's idea to have Cyrus sing on the song.

She said she was recovering from the flu. I mean, come on. That voice. Always. Xtina performing at party for #freeheld's "hands of love."

"She called her and Miley said yes," Perry told me. "I was expecting a f--king hurricane but she came in all chill, ready to be of service, sang the song like three times and was like, 'Linda, do you need anything else?' She was so generous with her time. She was so sweet. I'm a huge fan now because of that."

"Hands of Love" is among the songs up being considered for an Oscar nomination.

Perry performed during the party as did Courtney Love (daughter Frances Bean Cobain was in the audience cheering her on), Juliette Lewis, The Cult's Ian Asbury and Christina Aguilera.

"I'm here in support of Linda Perry," Xtina said before belting out a cover of John Lennon's "Mother." "I'm sort of just getting over the flu a little bit so I was hesitant but she's just one of the most incredible, amazing, genuine, raw, just gifted, insanely talented writers, musicians and artists."

Hosted by Aguilera, Tobey Maguire, Perry's wife Sara Gilbert and music producer Kerry Brown, the party's crowd included Jodie Foster and her photographer wife Alexandra Hedison, Jessica Simpson and husband Eric Johnson, Ashlee Simpson, Evan Ross, Julie Chen, Aisha Tyler and Donald Faison.

In other party news from last night, Fox Searchlight celebrated its film Brooklyn with a soirée at the Burberry store in Beverly Hills. The guest included the film's star Saoirse Ronan, director John Crowley and writer Nick Hornby as well as Bill Paxton and director Jason Reitman.
