President Barack Obama may be ready for his Black-ish close-up.

Anthony Anderson tells me that he's working on snagging the president and first lady Michelle Obama for a guest appearance on his hit ABC sitcom.

"We're petitioning to get Pres. Obama on the show," Anderson told me at the Emmys.

And we're not talking about a grassroots online petition.

"They watch the show," Anderson said. "They love it. We know them so we've been dealing with them and their people and hopefully they'll say yes."

Anderson, who was up for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series last night, revealed in January that he learned the first family were fans. "I was at the White House about a month ago and met the president and first lady, and the first thing out of their mouths was, 'We love Black-ish,'" Anderson told the New York Times. "So that came as a shock."

The veteran actor certainly isn't taking his success for granted.

"Who would have thought I would be like, 'You know, we're talking to POTUS about being on our show,' while I'm on the red carpet at the Emmys because I'm nominated for that show?" he said.

Season two of Black-ish premieres Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. on ABC.

The president is also reportedly a fan of Game of Thrones, Homeland and House of Cards and the recently ended Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire.
