McDreamy, who?

The first trailer for the new season of Grey's Anatomy is finally here and, as Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) warns, "You are about to find out that everything has changed."

What's so different? Well, for starters, Mer's running through a toy-littered hallway in her mom's old house, where's she's now living with Maggie (Kelly McCreary) and Amelia (Caterina Scorsone)—who's got renovations on the mind. Seriously, Amy, step away from the sledgehammer!

After the fabric of the show was so dramatically altered with the shocking death of Derek (Patrick Dempsey) at the end of last season, the show was due for a renovation of its own. At the 2015 Television Critics Association summer press tour, ABC boss Paul Lee promised reporters, "We've seen the pitch for Grey's Anatomy next season. The show reinvents itself again." Lee noted how hard it was to see Dempsey leave, but added, "It was great to see [the show] so relevant and taking the national conversation" in its 11th season.

And after weathering the storm of McDreamy's death, fans will be rewarded with a "lighter" season, as Shonda Rhimes said, "Grey's, there's a much sort of lighter tone this year that we're going for. Meredith Grey has never been defined by her relationship with a man."

Par for the course in Shondaland, the trailer doesn't offer many more concrete examples of the monumental changes in store for fans, but we do get a glimpse of Maggie serving someone a fierce knuckle sandwich and, let's just say, we're glad we're not the mystery blonde on the receiving end!

Grey's Anatomy returns Thursday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
