If the end of summer didn't already inspire major wanderlust, Reem Acra's spring collection will. The designer showed her latest line in industrial midtown Manhattan, but vibrant fabrics, embellished gowns and patterned headscarves could've made us think otherwise.
"The collection made me think of Indian royalty," said celeb stylist Lindsay Albanese. "It made me think of all the countries I have yet to visit. The collection really transported you. It epitomized global glamour."
Sure, you probably wouldn't wear these pieces to run errands, but what the collection lacks in casual wearability, it surely makes up for in unique vision—something often missing from typical ready-to-wear collections.
"The over-the-top intricacy of all the embellishments, embroidery, fabrication textures masterfully pulled together was truly a sight to see," described Lindsay. "This show made me appreciate the creative mind of a designer who designs purely off creativity and not by trends."
In the end, however, fashion is a business. So if you aren't a high-fashion gypsy or indulgent bohemian, where would you wear Reem Acra's spring offerings? On a grand vacation, answered Lindsay, and "not the T-shirt and flip-flops type of getaway."
