Prashant Gupta/FXFeeling the urge for a mid-week whiskey shot? It's probably because You're the Worst, one of the best comedies on TV, is back Sept. 9 for a second season of irresponsible weeknight partying, casual drug use, and occasional, begrudgingly emotional moments.
If you're late to the YTW party (don't worry, we'll forgive you), the occasionally cynical comedy follows music publicist Gretchen (Aya Cash) and well-reviewed but poorly selling British novelist Jimmy (Chris Geere) as they embark on a relationship that they know will eventually crash and burn in a spectacular manner, and you can catch up on the addictive first season on Hulu.
But if you're all caught up, you'll be happy to know that the show returns in top form with the season premiere episode "The Sweater People," which sees Gretchen and Jimmy living together after she accidentally burned down her apartment, both of them still desperate not to lose their edge and fall into the normal life they're so desperately trying to avoid.
Your favorite irresponsible garbage people continue to make awful decisions—this includes Gretchen divorcing BFF Lindsay (Kether Donohue), who is even more unhinged than usual, and treating Jimmy's PTSD-afflicted pal Edgar (Desmin Borges) terribly—and yet also manage to sweetly reveal their true feelings for one another.
In honor of this lovably twisted romantic comedy's return, please enjoy a fun little drinking game to play while you watch the premiere. And no, that game is not to drink any time the characters drink, do drugs, or talk about drinking/doing drugs, because we don't want you to die.
Instead, take a drink every time one of the following things happens. You'll get a nice buzz going, perfect for either going to bed early or heading out to the bar on a work night and making irresponsible life choices that Jimmy and Gretchen would definitely approve of. (But, also, don't drive like Gretchen did. We all know how that turned out for her.)
