The Biggest Loser kept it in the family when it came time to find a new host. Veteran trainer Bob Harper will step into the gig after 16 seasons as a trainer. Harper is replacing longtime host Alison Sweeney. The soap star took over the gig from Caroline Rhea in 2007.

In the trainer roles for season 17 are Dolvett Quince and Jennifer Widerstrom. Harper will continue to offer his training expertise to contestants throughout the season. Widerstrom and Quince will train eight contestant teams of two in a return to team versus team competition. Additional details about the new season, including twists, will be announced at a later date.

"I'm super excited about taking the position of host on The Biggest Loser," Harper said in a statement. "I've been with the show since season one so I know all of the ins and outs, and let me tell you, the weigh-in room is going to be a completely different ballgame with me at the steering wheel."

This isn't the first shakeup The Biggest Loser has had. Longtime trainer Jillian Michaels has departed and returned, only to leave again after a controversial season 15.

Season 17 starts filming in September.

(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
