Star Wars: The Force Awakens actor John Boyega may end up doing the dishes for his family for months.

The 23-year-old British star and newcomer to the hit franchise revealed on Wednesday the epic "punishment" his father gave him for refusing to reveal secrets about the anticipated film, the first of a third trilogy, which is set for release on Dec. 18.

"Dad [said] 'Everyone leave their plates in the sink for John to wash since he won't tell us anything about Force Awakens,'" Boyega tweeted.

Fans were largely unsympathetic.

Boyega was born to Nigerian parents and raised in southeast London. He revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that his father is a Pentecostal minister, while his mother "takes care of disabled people" and that he has two older sisters, Grace and Blessing.

"Honestly, when I was younger, I always thought, where did I get this acting bug from?" he said. "Because pretty much everyone in my family is ministers or helpers in some sense, but after seeing my dad, Samson, preach, I was just like, you know what? I get it from this guy. He acts out different scenes, and he's a real charismatic individual, so perhaps I got one percent of that."

Boyega's role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens remains enigmatic. His character is named Finn and he is seen in teasers for the movie wearing a Stormtrooper's uniform, but without the mask.

"We find Finn, he's in incredible danger, and the way he decides to react to this danger changes his life, and launches him into the Star Wars universe in a unique way," Boyega said at the recent Star Wars Celebration fan event.

When asked if his character is a "good guy" or a "bad guy," the actor replied, "My memory is just gone."
