The first photo from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is here!
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer took to Twitter earlier today to reveal the first pic of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in the franchise's upcoming fifth installment.
"Captain Jack is back and we're not letting him go," Bruckheimer wrote Tuesday. In the debut snapshot, Depp dons his signature Pirates costume, long hair and a scraggly beard and mustache. Depp's character appears a little worried as he's tied up to the mast of a pirate ship with henchmen around him. What mess has Jack gotten himself into this time?!
Last month, filming on the fiick was shut down for several weeks after Depp injured his had and had to fly to the U.S. for surgery. Despite the delay on Depp's behalf, cameras continued to roll during scenes in which Captain Jack Sparrow does not appear.
"They've tried to keep it going in his absence—it's not like a Fast and Furious situation, where the star [Paul Walker] has died—but they've reached the pinch point," Mal Tulloch, director of entertainment crew and sport for the Media, Entertainment and Arts Alliance, told The Sydney Morning Herald at the time.
Depp is now back in Australia and has resumed filming. He was also spotted holding hands with his wife Amber Heard in Brisbane yesterday.
