Steroline FTW!

Oh, did you think we forgot about you, Vampire Diaries fans? You tirelessly voted and patiently waited for a reaction after Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice Accolawinning TV's Top Couple of the 2015, and no, your efforts were not in vain. We got Candice Accola in-studio to finally react to being one-half of the small screen's favorite duo. Spoiler alert: she's ridiculously adorable.

"It's awesome! It was really fun to see that because it's been such a slow-burn for those characters for so many seasons," Candice says. "As much as you pick up on social media, 'Oh, I think they're liking this storyline,' that put it over the hill and it was really cool! It's exciting to see that so many people are enjoying the characters' romantic storyline."

Despite the couple's obvious popularity, Candice admits she was "definitely a little bit nervous" once she found out that Stefan and Caroline would be heading toward a romantic relationship, mostly because of two other fan-favorite pairings.

"There's so many people who loved Stefan and Elena together...and even still to this day, my entire social media feed just says 'Klaroline,'" she explains, "so I was nervous about how they were going to react, but I think that this means that they like it, which is really good!"

After Steroline's huge win, executive producer Julie Plec thanked the fanbase for their support. "From the moment Stefan helped Caroline through her vampire transition in the second episode of season two, a seed was planted in our minds," she said. "We spent four years delicately caring for it, hoping to slowly earn our way to where we are now. Now we get to have the fun of seeing where it takes us next.  We love the passion from the fans, always, whether they support this pairing or not. Thanks for voting."

Executive producer Caroline Dries added, "I love that our fans can appreciate our desire not to rush relationships, and Stefan and Caroline's 'coupling' is one of those cases."

The Vampire Diaries airs tonight at 8 p.m. on the CW.
